The GFC Team started with three people (Val, Julie and Meg)
in 2002 after Julie initiated the first fan fundraising project
on Josh's website, which was to raise money for the David
Foster Foundation (DFF) in honor of Josh's 21st birthday.
Through on-line auctions and donations at Meet and Greets,
over $75,000 was raised for the David Foster Foundation in
2002 and 2003.
Once Josh established his own
Charitable Trust (and then Foundation) in 2004, the group
changed its focus to The Josh Groban Foundation and renamed
itself "Grobanites for Charity." GFC incorporated
and established 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2005. In mid-2011,
The Josh Groban Foundation was renamed the Find Your Light
Foundation, at which time GFC shifted its focus from JGF to
FYL.
Additional team members were selected
by the GFC team as the organization expanded, based on the
skills and roles required at the time. The team membership
will continue to evolve as needed.
